In 1958, Telefunken lost the worldwide distribution rights for Neumann microphones. An order was placed with an Austrian manufacturer to provide a series of microphones under the Telefunken name to replace the Neumann line. The microphones were available from 1959-1961. The legendary Telefunken Ela M 251 was the most commercially successful of the five designs. It is, without doubt, the most sought after microphone in the "vintage" market.

Arguably the finest sounding microphone ever produced, the Telefunken 251 has risen to unparalleled levels of popularity and value. As well as offering extraordinary sound reproduction, the 251 is a beautifully designed microphone. Painted a distinctive mint green, the Telefunken 251 stands out even in the company of such venerable classics as the C12 and U47.

Telefunken USA is pleased to offer you the new and original Ela M 251. Not an imitation! During the original production period, Telefunken offered two versions of the Ela M 251/250. The more common type uses a 6072 tube. The scarcer version, made to satisfy the standards of German broadcast, utilized a Telefunken AC701. Telefunken USA is proud to offer both options. No expense has been spared in meticulously reproducing, to original specifications, the Telefunken Ela M 251.
