8803 Dual Channel Equaliser
Acclaimed 88 Series Equalisation in a USB-compatible Rack Unit.
Part of the exclusive Neve 88 Series, the 8803 is a dual channel equaliser and filter in the grand tradition of Neve processors.
Like the other units in the 88 series collection, the 8803 is hand-made and hand-wired in Burnley, England, and delivers legendary
Neve sound with digitally recallable settings via USB connection to Mac or PC. This is an outstanding tool for creative flexibility,
allowing Neve’s legendary analogue processing to be used as never before in collaboration with computer workstations.
For modern producers and engineers looking to shape and develop sounds with unrivalled sonic purity and musicality, the 8803 Dual Channel Equaliser is the preeminent choice.
Designed to deliver the inimitable sound of the flagship Neve 88RS console, the 8803 Dual Equaliser’s circuitry is based on the
classic Neve 8108 topology. Balanced Inputs and +/- 20dB trim are followed by two 12dB per octave filters. The High-Pass Filter
has a variable corner frequency from 25Hz to 300Hz, and the Low-Pass Filter has a range of 3kHz to 15kHz. The four bands of
equalisation offer selectable shelving and switchable Q on both of the high and low bands, with continuously variable Q on the mid
frequency bands. Frequency selection is variable on all bands within the ranges of 33Hz to 440Hz, 120Hz to 2kHz, 0.8kHz to 9kHz and
1.5kHz to 18kHz.
|
Heritage
The EQ circuits used on the 8803 are based on the classic Neve 8108 console design. However, the 8803 offers significant
advancements over the original 8108 console’s EQ circuits, especially within the frequency and Q ranges. Widely praised as the most powerful
and musical equalization circuitry in existence, this unit is poised to deliver the same sounds so revered by engineers and producers at Abbey Road,
The Village, Ocean Way, 20th Century Fox, Skywalker Sound, and Plus XXX.

Introducing the Neve 8804 Fader Pack
The Neve 8816 is the world's premiere Summing Mixer.
One commonly asked question has been "Can I add faders?" - the answer
is the 8804. Designed to be rack mount or table top, the 8804 features sixteen long throw channel faders with associated mute/solo switches and two long throw output faders. The 8804 not only adds fader control over audio levels to the 8816 but also adds additional functionality. Each of the 8816's sixteen input channels has a Direct Output from the 8804. These can be set to pre or post fader and can be used to feed FX units, make separate recordings of individual elements of a mix or for multitrack recording. The 8816 channel level pot is no longer required for level setting and becomes a dedicated auxiliary send. This is incredibly useful if the producer wishes to use an outboard reverb unit to add an extra touch of class to their mix. As part of the 88 range of outboard equipment the 8804 is equipped with recall. A USB port connects the unit to either Mac or PC and a utility programme stores and recalls settings. This is an essential tool for creative flexibility, analogue outboard can be used alongside workstations and their settings recalled whenever required. Thermionic Culture Unveils 2 New Racks
The
Pullet - Stereo Mini Passive EQ The Pullet is a stereo passive equaliser originally designed to complement the Earlybird 2.1 pre-amp, but after extensive tests the Pullet will also work with most other commercially available pre-amps too. The Pullet will provide a variable Q boost at 11 frequencies of 21 dB and simultaneously a cut at 11 frequencies of 21dB. In addition high top can be boosted or cut with a shelving filter. The Earlybird 2.1 pre-amp, or another pre-amp will provide the gain makeup required after a line level signal has been passed through the Pullet's passive EQ network. This provides an excellent arrangement due to the fact that the passive EQ of the Pullet gives full control over any midrange frequencies whilst the active EQ of the Earlybird 2.1 can give a smooth sounding control over the bass, mid and top frequencies. The fact is that passive EQ can give a much better result when radically boosting or cutting mid frequencies with a tight Q than active EQ can ever do. Its possible to boost a narrow band of midrange by 21dB with a musical sounding result using the Pullet's passive network whereas an active EQ may well start to sound harsh and begin to ring. The Culture Vulture Mastering Version - MV Thermionic Culture has met demand from mastering engineers and recording studios alike to produce a transformer balanced version of the popular Culture Vulture stereo valve distortion device. The MV has the same front panels controls and operation as the standard Vulture, but features sowter transformer balanced inputs & outputs on stereo jacks. which can be bypassed. Large indented input drive controls, and indented output controls. Specially selected and matched military type valves with longer life and low microphoney. One recent Vulture MV customer is Tom Rowlands " The vulture distorts synths in a truly beautiful way, we used to achieve this effect through a long, convoluted process, but now we can get this great sound at a flick of a switch!" Tom Rowlands - Chemical Brothers. |

MC2 AUDIO E45 Thrives in Nocturnal Mode
Two leading edge clubs have recently set new standards
in sound system design and performance. Both Nocturnal, a new three-story
club that literally adds to the South Beach skyline, and Masque, Dayton's
most technologically advanced dance club, rely on MC2 Audio Ltd's incredible
E45 switchmode amplifier for consistently amazing sound. "Nocturnal is a truly amazing sound system installation in a truly amazing club," comments Desn McNaughton, Co-owner with partner Dan Agne, of Sound Investment, the Chicago-based system design and installation company that created the sound systems for both clubs. Nocturnal features 8 MC2 E45 amplifiers powering a massive Funktion-One sound system. "They wanted the best sound system in Miami, and they got it," says McNaughton, noting that the power from the E45 amplifiers easily covers all three levels and the rooftop garden at Nocturnal. "Considering the lengths to which they were willing to go with this multi-million dollar club, the E45 was the only real choice." Masque, in Dayton, Ohio, opened in the late 2004 and has since set the standard for clubs in that region. the mid sized nightclub had a requirement for high output and absolutely no distortion. "The sound system had to match the lighting and design of this place, which is as good as anything you'll see on the coasts or even in Europe," remarks McNaughton. The MC2 Audio E45 is a lightweight, witchmode amplifier designed to the same high standards of reliability and sound quality that users have to expect of all MC2 Audio product. The switchmode power supply is capable of delivering high peaks with no perceptible bass 'sag' and very low distortion. (Excerpt from 'The AES DAILY: Friday Edition' October 7, 2005.) |

SSL Intros XLogic E Signature Channel
Solid State Logic is (at booth 801) unveiling the XLogic
E Signature Channel, a new member of the trend setting XLogic Series.
The XLogic E Signature channel brings the wickedly classic sound of the
original early 80's E Series console to the outboard rack od today's engineers
and producers. The E Signature Channel delivers the clever choice of selectable
transformer driven or Variable Harmonic Drive (VHD) mic amps and the world
renowned "Listen Mic" Compressor-the secret weapon of many producers.
"With the advent of high resolution digital recording, engineers, artists and producers are always looking for great sounding analogue gear to start the recording process and create a signature sound," says Chris Jenkins, director of commercial applications for SSL. "The XLogic E Signature Channel was designed to fill this industry need by providing the sonic characteristics of the E Series electronics responsible for so many hit records over the past 20 years. The XLogic E Signature Channel is a wonderful addition to any studio's rack." The XLogic E Signature Channel is designed to act as a perfect complement to the XLogic SuperAnalogue Channel. The XLogic SuperAnalogue Channel delivers the absolute angelic sonic purity of the SSL XL 9000 K Serires console using acclaimed SuperAnalogue processing. The new E Signature Channel perfectly recreates the sound of the wickedly classic, early 80's E Series SSL console using the modern discrete electronic circuits to emulate components that are long obsolete, such as the original E Series "Class A" VCA's. the input section contains two completely independent Mic pre-amps. the primary Mic pre-amp is a classic transformer coupled design using the same Jensen transformer as the first E-Series channel strips. The second option offers a brand new electronically balanced design with SSL's unique Variable Harmonic Drive circuitry. (Excerpt from 'The AES DAILY: Saturday Edition' October 8, 2005.) |
